Walking through Yaoundé
In the morning, when the sun rises timidly,
you put on your sports shoes and set off
through the still awakening city.
A touch of sultriness hangs in the air,
announces the day,
which slowly unfolds,
like a song that begins to sound softly.
The streets in quiet movement,
the first cars and motorcycles roll out.
Children in school uniform walk by,
their backpacks on their shoulders,
still a long way to go.
As Yaoundé awakens,
like a big giant,
who rises from his sleep,
you enjoy your city without the loud hustle,
take a breath, sort your thoughts.
And you turn back onto your street
Looking forward tot he new day.
Dear Chimène,
I will never forget our morning walk through Yaoundé. Your positive attitude and your loud laugh will be remembered. Thank you for your hospitality and the inspiring conversations! I would have loved to welcome you in Hamburg.
Yours, Anna
